Volunteer's Corner!

Dear Volunteers:

So far 2010 has been a very busy year for G.A.I.T. and it is only going to get busier! We are currently running 6 days a week. Not only do we have therapeutic riding but a number of other programs as well. As the summer months approach our calendar is going to be quite full so we are going to need all the help we can get. As always the updated schedule of events and volunteer calendar can be found on the website.

The first Saturday of every month will be our Level 1 Side Aide Beginner Training from 12:30pm-2:30pm. If you have any friends that would like to help out bring them down!

On the second Saturday of each month we will hold a Level 2 Groomer Training as well as a Level 3 Leader Training for those who are eligible. If you are a new volunteer you would have to attend at least one class a week for two consecutive 7 week sessions before you can participate in a Grooming Training. If you are already a Groomer and are interested in attending a Leading Training you must groom consistently for 2 sessions and you must be able to groom at least 3 different horses.

The reason these guidelines are in place is to ensure not only safety but comfort in you and the horse. Our horses have very different personalities and it takes time to get to know them, and you have to know them well before you can ultimately be their leader in one of our classes. For those volunteers who have been coming and helping out, we really appreciate all the time and effort you put into this program.
