Volunteer Corner

Dear Volunteers,

This quarter we are focusing on what “Stable-eyes”, the title of our newsletter, means to all of us here at GAIT. As volunteers, we can use our “stable eyes” whenever we are at the riding center. It is very helpful to GAIT staff when volunteers keep their eyes open to the needs of the stable area, as well as the arena, both outside of and during class. Thank you for checking the “Volunteer Jobs during Class” descriptions (taken from the manual) on the bulletin board above the sign-in cart in the barn and being willing to help prepare for class.

There is a new dry-erase board above the sign-in cart entitled, “Good Horse”. This is an appreciation board for volunteers and staff: Be thinking of ways to let someone else (volunteer, staff, horse) know in some small way that you appreciated him/her today. Be positive. Be encouraging. Be thankful. Using this board is just another way we can have our “stable eyes” open, noticing successful moments of the day to help us motivate each other toward more successful moments, and ensuring a happy and “stable” experience for our riders and our horses.

We have our “stable eyes” on you and all that you do for the riders and the horses! Thank you again for your commitment and support of our programs here at GAIT.

Sincerely,

Susan Swalm
