From the Director's Stall

There was a gnat on Patrick’s ear today. It made me realize that Spring had definitely arrived!

PatrickAs Patrick shook his great head trying to rid his ear of the gnat a cloud of loose fur went flying about his head. It made me realize why I like winter. Despite the cold, there are no bugs, no shedding fur, no mud and dust. As I gazed out into the pasture I noted other horses bothered by gnats and emerging flies. Silver and Skye made a mad dash for their run-in shed where it is cool, dark and nearly fly-free. Diggy and Halee were rubbing their heads together to keep the flies away from each other, as well as getting in a good scratch. Beau buried his head in the large round bale of hay. Laura and Lady Kai stood lazily in the warm sun, flicking their ears only when necessary to rid an annoying insect. While Missy and Tiger stood head to tail to each other letting their tails swing back and forth on each other’s face.

I realize that the horses have friends, personalities and stories to tell, just like we do. Some of their stories are on the G.A.I.T. website, some are in the past issues of Stable-Eyes. But the best way to ‘know’ their story is to come and see for yourself.

We would like to extend an invitation to each one of you and your extended families to attend our Horse-a-Fair this summer where a color brochure of the horses and their stories are one of the many features of this year’s events. But if you can’t make this fund-raising event, please call us and we will be sure to set up a visit to G.A.I.T. for you.

See you at the next event!
